METRO EAST RESPONDS WITH UNITY UNDER OPLAN KAAGAPAY
When rising waters threatened lives in the eastern corridor of the metro, the leaders of Metro East did not wait to be called—they showed up, stood strong, and served with urgency and heart.
JCI Marikina Marikitt, under the leadership of Pres. Shelly Sebastian-Mira, was among the first to respond by closely monitoring the water levels of the Marikina River as storms pounded the city. But vigilance quickly turned into action. In a united front known as One Marikina, she collaborated with President Ginny Pioquinto of JCI Marikina Sortidos and President Rovick Garcia of JCI Marikina Sapatos. Together, they braved the flooded streets to personally distribute hot meals and relief goods to evacuees—proving that unity in service is the strongest response in times of need.
In Quezon City, JCI Quezon City Capitoll led by President Jay Rod Danganan launched JCI QC Capitol Cares, a swift and coordinated relief initiative that brought together CAPITOL Brothers to source, pack, and distribute almost 200 relief goods, 80 hygiene kits, and 200 hot meals. Their mission led them to Doña Rosario Elementary School in Barangay Novaliches, where over 80 families received much-needed aid. It wasn’t just a distribution—it was a message of compassion and presence in their most difficult hour.
This act of service was amplified by the active involvement of key JCI leaders, including JCIP – ONEVP 2025 National Executive Vice President Atty. Patrick Maglinao, Pres. Rovick Garcia of JCI Marikina Sapatos, 2025 EVP Atty. Mae Añonuevo of JCI QC Celebrity, 2024 Regional Vice President Henz Austria, 2023 President Monica Licaros of JCI Valenzuela, and 2021 President Larry Barcelon of JCI Marikina Sapatos.
JCI Quezon City Celebrity, under the leadership of EVP Atty. Mae Añonuevo, worked hand-in-hand with JCI QC Capitol, ensuring that the collective response was not just strong, but far-reaching. Though working behind the scenes, their contributions were vital—proving that collaboration, not credit, drives true impact.
From flooded neighborhoods in Marikina to evacuation sites in Quezon City, Metro East answered the call. They didn’t just respond—they embraced, empowered, and uplifted.
As the waters recede, what remains is the memory of leaders who did not hesitate to step into the storm. Their presence, soaked in service and sincerity, is a testament to what OPLAN KAAGAPAY stands for.
More stories from across the Metro Area are still unfolding. The call to serve continues. Let us remain united—ready to respond, ready to care.
